The Chef’s Table features cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and a unique menu of appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Created by Carnival’s Chief Fun Officer Shaquille O’Neal, Big Chicken offers a wide array of tasty chicken sandwiches, chicken strips, and even a fried chicken basket. Mardi Gras offers guests close to 20 excellent bars and lounges onboard. You’ll be glad you have the extra time — there’s so much to choose from on Carnival’s Seaday Brunch menu. From burgers and fried chicken to huevos rancheros and 12-hour French toast, there are plenty of options to delight every palate. The adults-only Serenity Retreat, featuring a 24/7 fitness center, outdoor track, and full-service spa is complimentary and just for the grown-ups.
Carnival Cracks Down on Unsanctioned Poolside Gambling During Cruise
Family Harbor staterooms, with their unique nautical décor, can be found near Mardi Gras’ own Family Harbor Lounge — an exclusive spot with breakfast, snacks during the day, plus board games, family movies, video games and more. The benefits don’t end there — your little girls and boys eat free in most onboard specialty restaurants and get a free evening of Night Owls babysitting service, so you can enjoy a little alone time. And we'd know, with all the Italian seafaring spirit that's literally driving the ship.

The adults-only Serenity Deck now has a full pool, as well as two hot tubs, a bar and a salad bar. Carnival Mardi Gras rooms are more thoughtful in terms of design and storage than other Carnival ships. Unsurprisingly, balcony rooms and Ocean Suites are popular for their views of the sea. If you're an ocean lover, look to the Cove balcony cabins on Deck 5 - we’ve heard of people spotting marine life like dolphins from their cabin.
CLOUD 9 SPA OCEAN VIEW
The adults-only Serenity Retreat on Mardi Gras is a lovely oasis with a pool, whirlpool, padded loungers, clamshell chairs, the Serenity Bar, and a Fresh Creations salad station. Waiting lines formed well before showtimes, with multiple shows offered daily. Many guests in our group planned their evenings around The Punchliner Comedy Club shows throughout the cruise.
Cruise News Recap: Carnival Hike, Overbooking, Stranded Passengers

When you book with one of our partners, please be sure to check their site for a full disclosure of all applicable fees as required by the U.S. At $119 per person (as of March 2024), this small group multi-course dining experience is a splurge – but it’s a VIP experience for just 14 guests hosted by the Master Executive Chef. The atrium’s huge 3,000 square-foot glass panels built into the ship’s side provide guests with beautiful sea views. It’s a wonderful place to relax, listen to live music, or participate in games and contests. The innovative three-deck-high Grand Central Atrium space is one of Carnival Mardi Gras’ six themed zones – and it’s a winner. Rudi Sodamin, Holland America Line’s amazing Master Chef, has been wowing guests of Carnival’s sister line for years.
Carnival Excel Suite passengers enjoy priority cabana reservations. Rudi's Seagrill is another fleet-first dining venue (seafood restaurant by Rudi Sodamin / Holland America Line's Master Chef). Rudi's Seagrill is a specialty restaurant (at surcharge / reservation fee) located on Deck 8 (between Summer Landing and La Piazza) with indoor (80 seats) and outdoor seating (al fresco dining on The Lanai). The Seagrill offers appetizers, entrees and desserts, with all menu items presented as food faces. Signature dishes include Bigeye Tuna, Lemon-Stuffed Grilled Branzino, Seared Scallops, Salt-Roasted Prawns, Broiled Lobster Tails, Crab Cake, Caramel Apple Cheesecake, Chocolate Truffle Cake. Carnival Mardi Gras main dining rooms feature select items from the onboard steakhouse, available for an additional fee.
The restaurant offers authentic Far East dishes and a live cooking show performance (by the chefs) at custom-built cooking stations positioned at the center of an 8-seat dining table. Each meal at Bonsai Teppanyaki starts with a sampling of 5 appetizers (Miso Soup, Pork Belly Yakitori, Spicy Tuna on Rocks). Each meal ends with the specialty desserts "Chocolate Bento Box" and "Green Tea Ice Cream". The restaurant is open for lunch (seadays only) and for dinner (every night of the voyage). A Carnival Excel Corner Suite aboard Mardi Gras features tons of indoor space, plus a large wraparound balcony with lounge chairs and an al fresco dining table, for when you need a little more space.

There is no shortage of fun on the original FUN ship’s newest and largest vessel. The Punchliner Comedy Club will have the whole family laughing with both all-ages and adult-only stand-up comedy shows on offer. There’s also a casino, a huge water park (the largest in the extensive Carnival fleet), and of course the first roller coaster at sea.
Mardi Gras’ massive onboard waterpark is one of the largest in Carnival’s entire fleet (All the Excel-class ships have the same features). Located in the ship’s Ultimate Playground zone, the waterpark is a go-to spot for fun-loving kids and families, thrill-seekers, and the young at heart. Located on the ship's top-deck (deck 19), Loft 19 is a new VIP leisure concept (secluded retreat for adults) designed as an exclusive (Excel Suites-only) premium resort complex. Here are offered full bar service, swimming pool, sunbathing area with cabanas, deckchairs and sun loungers available for rent. The cabanas are fully-stocked with beverages, chilled towels, plush bathrobes and provide dedicated concierge service with lunch delivery and fresh fruits.
Time Fries features chef-created french fries loaded with toppings, such as Cheesesteak Fries. Street Eats is a new dining concept in Carnival Cruise Line, located on Lido Deck 16 around Mardi Gras’ Beach Pool area. Inspired by food trucks and street eateries, Street Eats consists of three open-air counter-service stalls — Steam Dream, Mad Sizzle, and Time Fries. Barbecue lovers should head down to Deck 8 for excellent smoked meats, comfort food sides, and a home-brewed beer at Guy Fieri’s other restaurant, Guy’s Pig & Anchor Smokehouse | Brewhouse. All meals at Guy’s Pig & Anchor are currently free of charge on Mardi Gras. The food at Emeril’s Bistro is delicious, and the prices are very reasonable.
